merit badges - illustrated + letterpress

fun for kids & grown ups too, what does your badge say about you?

Kathryn of blackbird letterpress was inspired by summer camps and sneaking off, portable record player in tow. We were stoked to collaborate on her amazing merit badge designs, as we'd been having similar daydreams of playing hooky. The paper badges make unexpected conversation starters and party favors.

The badges are: record player-Getting the Groove, scissors-Cutting Up, canoe-Staying the Course, camera-Focusing the Angle, tooth-Chewing the Fat, grill-Cool Under Fire, bear-Wild Thing Tracking, and arrows-Hitting the Target. Pins are already applied to the back, all you need to do is cut them out and pin on your sash.

Letterpress printed in 2 colors (with a 3rd created by the overprint) on 530gsm Bamboo paper (heavy weight to last, pinned to your favorite bag or sash- but easy enough to cut), the card measures 5.5"x8.5". Each card comes with pins already attached to the back and it is packaged in a clear sleeve. The badges measure 1.5" when cut out.
